Sod weighs hundreds of pounds; is your roof designed to hold that much weight? I doubt it. Most are made to hold a couple feet of snow, that’s it. So your first step would be to find out what modifications are necessary to allow you to put sod on the roof.
But once you did that, I think the idea is really cool! It should keep the house cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter. I have seen houses in England and in Scandinavia with sod roofs, so it has been done successfully.
If your house is undergound maybe other than that i dont see it happening How would you mow it and water it?? When it rained dirt flowing off the roof would get all over building….Bad Idea
