Are you aware of any popular websites that are built on Microsoft technology?
Almost all of the popular web destinations (with the exception of MSN of course) uses any technology but Microsoft’s. FB is PHP, MySpace: mostly ColdFusion, YouTube on Python.
Obviously the open source nature of these technologies make them appeal more to new startups, but it would be interesting to know if any major web property is using Microsoft technology (at least .NET), anyone aware of any?

While it isn’t as easy to find out who uses dotnet, chances are, if a company uses IIS then they use dotnet.
You also might find these sites useful (a chart about what web server the Fortune 1000 companies use):

And this, which is a utility where you can type in a domain name, and find out what web server they’re running:

Some search results that I did & found to use IIS:
mcafee.com
army.mil
dell.com
walmart.com
belkin.com
