Can I upload video onto my computer from a miniDV format camcorder?
Im in the market for a video camera and want something that I can upload the footage onto my computer and edit and create home movies that way. Everything I read about DVD formatted cameras is that the picture isnt as good as miniDV. But, can miniDV footage be uploaded onto the computer or is it not digital? Any advice would help. THANKS

Mini DV is a digital format and is easy to get into the computer. You need to make sure your camera and computer both have firewire (Sony calls this Ilink) and you will need a cable. Sony and Cannon both make decent cameras but I recomend the Canon ZR series cameras in the under $400 price range. Mini-dv works well with just about any editing program.
