I am getting modest traffic to my site, but the only new members to the forum have been spammers. I don’t want to be annoying, but I want people to be aware that a forum exists. Do you have any ideas on site promotion without breaking the rules of most other "competitive/related by interest" forums (mainly that one is not allowed to post urls on their forum that would direct their users to my site).
I thought about posting my url here, but didn’t know if people would get irritated at me. So I guess I’ll do it now!

I’m having trouble promoting my website. I provide a good service at good price, and the market isn’t very flooded with other merchants (I make custom cross stitch patterns from people’s pictures). Pay-per-click through Google gained lots of clicks, but no buys – so I pretty much threw away money. Any tips on website promotion, either through pay-per-click or other means?

As stated above I am looking for a designer who won’t rip me off, who actually knows what he/she is talking about and is willing to work with a professional artist who actually knows nothing about such things as web design and promotion. And really doesn’t have time to learn. Without I might add making me feel like an idiot. I believe I could, once such a thing is done, keep it up and freshen content but to originally design it? I recently created a new website at http://wordpress-hosting-reviews.com that will provide readers with web hosting reviews and ratings written by actual customers. Can you recommend any creative ways to entice people to write reviews?

I know how to get traffic to the site, but not how to get people to leave their comments. Right now, I’m trying a promotion offering to donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation for everyone who write a comment. Unfortunately, that’s not really working either.

I am currently promoting a new website with Google AdSense. I am not a smammer/pushy type that goes around being obnoxious and pushing their site on bulletin boards etc.

I am looking for some tactfull ways to promote the site until it gets a following. I figure if people like the content, they will come, I just need to kickstart it. I don’t have a lot of time, but I can invest a little to promote it. The problem is website promotion seems like a very shady business with a lot of scammers, so I am cautious (and went with Google). Any other ideas?
