Design/Marketing/Advertising Career?
I am to graduate next summer with an AA in Business Administration. I don’t exactly know what I want to do career-wise, but now I have taken an interest in more of design, marketing and advertising. Here is a list of jobs I am interested in:
-Developing/putting together the previews for up coming movies(like the little flashing clips that preview what the movie is about)
-designing the billboards/posters/advertisements for upcoming movies
-designing brochures for companies to allow them to market themselves.
-Designing the layout of web pages (not the script typing)
-Designing layouts of magazine covers/pages in the magazine/article layouts in magazines (like Cosmo does an article on Drew Barrymore and the inside has her photos and short quotes by her)
Could you please tell me what job I should be looking for to work up to that career, the average wage rate for the beginning job and what the wages are if that is my CAREER, if there is a specific degree for these careers. And also, what the normal work week is (i.e. Monday-Friday 8-5, Tuesday-Saturday 7-6, etc)
I really just need someone to point me in the right direction… or if you could help point me to the right person to talk to that will point me in the right direction, I’d appreciate it!
Thank you so much in advance!
I have never had any training in any of these fields. I know that I like creating the look of layouts- like when you use Power Point and make slides. I also love scrap booking. I just like the design part of it. I really don’t want to do a job that involves coding.

If you want a web design job or a print design job you must take classes in Flash, Photoshop, illustrator, indesign, dreamweaver , fireworks , and coldfusion or PHP and HTML computer coding. These are the ADOBE products that are used for the production of print design and WEB design.
Have you had any training in software for print and web design?
I would go to those businesses a lot of them are in NYC but they can be anywhere and apply. You will have to start out at the bottom at minimum wage or so and you will be emptying waste etc. Then you work your way up.
