Good Software to build Websites?
I have some basic knowledge of website building and grahics, but I am missing a good software to make a most possible professional looking website. Do you have some recommendations?

If you can afford to spend money (or get a "free" alternative) my best recommendation would be Dreamweaver.

If you are on a tight budget, NVU is a decent free editor.

I use dreamweaver. it’s easy to use and is loaded with features
When it comes down to it with coding, Notepad, good Googling skills and patience are all you need; I’ve made it five years. Graphic-wise, with enough skill, and again, patience, you can use almost any image editor. A very large majority use Photoshop and a few use Paint Shop Pro. A decent, free alternative is Gimp. While you’ll have to deal with having a tab on your task bar for every window, Gimp can essentially imitate Photoshop in effects. There are quite a few user support groups out there as well.
As for knowing how to make your design professional, well, the best advice I can give is to look around the Internet. Official and established sites aren’t the only sites that look professional mind you; there are plenty of individuals out there with perfectly good designs out there that do it for their own enjoyment. Of course, this depends on what your definition of professional is. If you’re really stuck in a ditch here, browse through the Wordpress themes database. Yes, Wordpress themes. – http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/ – Wordpress has a large userbase and thus has a large range of themes made for others by others going from clean and simple to graphic heavy, monotone to hosting a kaleidoscope of colours. If you’d rather not glance at the more, well, mediocre themes then stop by Smashing Magazine – http://www.smashingmagazine.com/ – and browse through their Wordpress theme related post. You’ll most likely find something to aid you in their other sections as well.
