how do I make up a marketing plan for a DVD I have developed?
I have a great idea for a how to video, but I don’t know much about marketing or what the start up costs would be, say for advertising, so I could find financial backers, etc.

You have to do your research. First, you need to decide who you want to sell to. Then find out where those people shop. After that you conctact some of those places/sites and find out how much they charge for advertizing.

Have you thought about marketing it online? It’s easier than you might think. I’ve gotten some really good results! I’ve been using the program called site sell. You can follow the link below for more info. The second link is me giving my story on why i chose site sell.
You may explore to sell through EBay initially and than have your own interactive web site to sell through few selected reputed malls.

Before you begin marketing your DVD make sure you have clearly analyzed your costs to produce and distrubitue it. One idea you may want to investigate is to show it to the owners of local (insert the name of the type of business your DVD targets here). Offer to split the profit for sales if they will allow you to display it in their store. If it does well, you can branch out. Online marketing and wide area distributions are also alternatives, but I’m assuming for the moment that like most entrepreneurs, you’re idea rich and cash poor. This is a low or no cost approach to consider.
