How hard is it to create your own website?
I draw a webcomic that is pretty good, I have been posting it on drunkduck.com and would also like to branch out and start my own website. I was wonder how easy or hard it would be to make a basic website to profile my work.

i’ve been trying to make my forever. problem is im never happy. Since doing this ive found out. The more detail you want, the harder it is. period.
Wish you luck if you do it.
Depending On how skilled you are will come in on if it will be hard for you.
If you know the basic html, php, ftp, css, you should be fine, But just starting out of no where can be really hard.
It depends on your determination and if you will like learning HTML and other website design techniques.
Its very simple. I created my website through weebly.com you just click and drag that simple. Visit my website 4 an example: weluvmunkies.weebly.com and comment on it in my blog! U choose a background upload your pictures and publish it its that simple!
It depends on which route you’re willing to take. The three main ones I can think of are either (A) learning HTML and writing it yourself from scratch. (B) Using Adobe Dreamweaver to make it [This is much easier than option A]. Or (C) hiring someone to do it for you.
Option A would take quite some time and dedication. You would need to either find some guides online, books, or take classes. It would be very necessary to take classes and get a lot of practice in to make a very professional looking website.
Option B is much easier than option A but would still require time, effort, and a lot of patience and learning. You can always look at dreamweaver here. (http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver)
Option C is the easiest but would cost you some money. Although purchasing Dreamweaver may cost more money than hiring a web designer.
In my honest opinion its not that bad, kinda easy. (Though I do know html, css, and javascript)
Starting out for the first time though you might be able to find a web host who provides a program as such to help you design the site you want.
Though as stated above, if you are going the other route and are going to code it the more detail you want the harder it gets.
But basic is easy, and HTML references can be easily found off search engines. (That’s what I do for some of my JavaScript class work.)
Try Blink Web or Wix, their easy to manage free website (or blog) has cool features that include drag and drop capability, switch designs on the fly, youtube and google video, custom html, upload images, flikr photo gallery, visitor stats and more. You can also buy a new domain instantly, or host your existing domain for free and make it your own (www.yourown.com)
If your looking for something more advanced but still user friendly then try XsitePro, Sitebuilder Designs or Calvary Studios, they have everything you need in building your own website: domain name registration or domain transfer, web hosting, web builder, site maintenance and email accounts. Everything is laid out in an easy to follow step by step instruction. Some of the features included enable you to add your own themes, videos, images or mp3 music making your site unique to you. Pricing is comparable and affordable too.
I hope that I was of some help and answered your question.
As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. A domain name is a name you want to call your website. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.
If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.
As an experienced webmaster I recommend BlueHost service which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.

Hi Cathy-
Microsoft has a service called Office Live Small Business that lets people make their own websites, and since it is template based you do not need to know any complicated webpage coding languages. Easy is a very subjective term, but I bet that you can make a website with this service.
