I would like to start a business using a website. How do I decide whether or not to use ning or not?
I want to make money on it using a model where advertisers pay me. Is that something I could do on ning so I don’t have to have the structure designed or should I just have my own website made?

You can’t use Ning for that. The advertising revenue goes to Ning for allowing users to create free social networks. You should definitely consider creating your own website. I would build a website through the company that will do the hosting like Yahoo Small Business, Go Daddy or Network Solutions. I think Yahoo has the best and easiest website building tool. There are hundreds of web hosting companies, but I’d stick with names you’ve heard of.
There are websites that will sell you a template, but they usually require that you know some programming and usually have to have additional software like Dreamweaver or Frontpage.
