Need help creating first website/webstore?
I’m looking to get my first website. I need something thats easy to set-up and was looking at some of the premade templates at webs.com. Is this a good host? I purchased a domain name on godaddy a few months ago but didnt like any of their pre-made templates and I’m not skilled enough to create one of my own. Anybody have any good advice for a beginner like me? I’m pretty much a starving artist so the more money I save, the better- keep that in mind. Thanks for all your help in advance people!

If your intent is to sell art online, consider Menalto Gallery installed on any PHP / MySQL host, such as GoDaddy.

Do yourself a favor, check out DotNetNuke a.k.a DNN http://www.Dotnetnuke.com This is by far the best web applicaiton I have used and it’s very easy to maintain. Email me if you want more information I would be glad to point you in the right direction!

Let me tell you a little about my experience with web hosting companies over the years. At times you will come across deals that are almost too good to be true – cheap web hosting with amazing features! There are hosts that while offering cheap prices do back that up with excellent performance and service, but there are things to be noted:
There are a lot of potential questions you must ask yourself, whilst bearing in mind other peoples reviews, their reputation, and ultimately – the price. I personally use http://www.top15hosting.com to read web hosting reviews and see what web host is getting the best reputation as well as the bad, which helps me decide who to stay away from.
Your experience might be different but I have many complaints from PowWeb and Dot5Hosting. Those companies just took my money and provided me with bad customer support and my websites would always be down. Today I use Just Host for my web hosting and I’m very satisfied. They do provide pre-made templates and are pretty good for beginners. As long as you do a little research before buying your web hosting you will be fine.
Try Blink Web or Wix, their easy to manage free website (or blog) has cool features that include drag and drop capability, switch designs on the fly, youtube and google video, custom html, upload images, flikr photo gallery, visitor stats and more. You can also buy a new domain instantly, or host your existing domain for free and make it your own (www.yourown.com)
If your looking for something more advanced but still user friendly then try XsitePro, Sitebuilder Designs or Calvary Studios, they have everything you need in building your own website: domain name registration or domain transfer, web hosting, web builder, site maintenance and email accounts. Everything is laid out in an easy to follow step by step instruction. Some of the features included enable you to add your own themes, videos, images or mp3 music making your site unique to you. Pricing is comparable and affordable too.
I hope that I was of some help and answered your question.
