My husband and I can’t take the snow any longer and are planning to relocate to the south in 2012. We have children who will be entering public school that fall. In terms of employment, my keyword search for jobs is always "nutrition" and my husband is in the restaurant industry. We are considering cities in the Triangle but don’t know which area is "better." We plan on renting for at least a year to acclimate before buying a house. Suggested areas to look? Any info on schools, employment, expenses, safety, would be appreciated. I am doing research on my own, but real opinions always help in addition to data!

I’m interested in getting into riding, I’ve never done it before. After I have a beginner bike for a while I’ll get something more permanent, and would probably want a custom paintjob on my bike and helmet. Are there any websites that showcase custom jobs and what people have had done?

Is it about to come back down to earth? Weak jobs, manufacturing, and auto sales reports this week on top of S & P being in the negative for the first time this year.

Thank you!

Around about in February this year; I found an online internship for a design company that was supposed to increase your exposure and help build your portfolio.

The internship lasted 6 months. The internship was unpaid. Basically I designed websites and exported the finished designs to their company, they did the website coding. Over time I started to get skeptical, I was doing more and more designs for them, yet little communication was ever given. They never did a background check on me nor, ask me for any personal information or sign any papers.

I never met them face to face. The company is located a state away from me (North Carolina, I’m in South Carolina.) Though I recently found out they are REALLY located in Denver Colorado. When I threatened to leave them during a middle of a design they had me working on. They quickly gave me a phone interview and told me they had ‘jobs’ open.

So I stayed further more during the 6 months. Everytime I mentioned payment, they would simply give me a run around about getting 10% of their sales. (They make about 1500$ per website) I did nothing but design and saw no money.

Close to the end of the internship. They offered ‘free’ job training. To get me started working with them. Notice, I said FREE, as in I still wouldn’t be paid and I still had to do work with them, plus MORE. (i.e. calling clients, setting up interviews and such)

Can I sue them for using me as labor. They basically have been receiving tons of money off my work. I haven’t gotten a dime. I read that Internships are supposed to teach you something. I’ve learned nothing during it, I only did the things I’ve already known how.

I read a couple of articles that are basically stating that a mixture of the economy and other factors are making it so that it is harder for people with higher degree’s to find a job. A lot of people are out of work now, looking for something everyday. Especially, people who just graduated in the past two years. They come out of school without many options and a lot of people in the market for jobs.

Hi by the way I am a guy on my gf’s answers just so you know. Anyways I am looking for an office job but I dont know what kinds of businesses or companies to go apply at. I already tried the careerbuilder etc. sites, newspaper, and employment agencies. They dont seem to be working I need a job very fast. Where can I look for an office job? My skills are I took several computer classes in high school including desktop publishing, advanced computer application, website design, and typing. I cany type 60+wpm. I was looking for data entry or billing or hr assistant. I dont know what kinds of jobs train you but thats the kind im looking for. I just dont know where to start or look?? Please help me thank you so much!

Fact: I graduated a highschool and a college(both of them IT based), I have 2 years experience in a company in selling/marketing/programming. I speak 3 foreign languages. I have medium knowledge in several programming language(php/html/java script/mysql/flash) and picture editing(photoshop/corel draw) and I’m god at SEO(search engine optimization). Designed several web, sites, wrote and designed several articles for magazines, etc

So…my question is…would a man with this description find a job in your town? Because I live in Romania and in my city I can’t find a job in mostly any field(of course leaving out jobs like shoe sale sman or selling tomatoes in the market). But what are the odds of a guy like me(22 years old) finding a job in a similar position in your town?. I ask because I just want to know if it’s just my city/country that sucks or would I have the same fate in any city/country?

I went to a community college and I got an associates in computer infromation systems – security and assurance. I didn’t learn a freaking thing really! :( No hands on experience… waste of my time and money! What low level jobs could i consider applying for? Do some companies train you in the software they’re using? HELP!!!

I came to know about that there are jobs like social marketing , search engine optimisation, blogging ,……. Through which we can earn money is that really true tat we can earn and become an entrepreniuer?

I really would like to find a suitable career path, im just not sure of my options or whats out there….its hard when there are thousands and thousands of different jobs out there and i feel like im only exposed to a few of them,

Im a 22 yr old male and have worked in several different areas and all been unhappy with, most of them were to do with construction or more hands on building type labour.

my question is what kind of job would suite me….
im very intelligent, assertive, creative, have leadership skills but dont want to be the front man (e.g. giving speech’s) im honest, and care about community values, i dont want to have to do university/college at this stage, i can be team orientated but work much better on my own or in small numbers, im an inward thinker, a problem solver, im inovative and always looking for the right answer or the best possible solution through rationalising and methodical planning. I really enjoy art, hiking, rock climbing, anything outdoors, i have considered being a writer perhaps for reviews on particular topics or for opinions based around community issues but unsure how or where to get started, is there places where you can start at bottom level and work your way up through on the job training and or study as part of a job package?

help me!!
i have lots of personal ability and not sure where or how to apply myself??

please dont tell me about some online earning website..

im talking about legitimate work.

:)
thanks

These were surprising.

a lot of dull, boring, obnoxious jobs………….actually got high ratings.

Heavy equiptment Inspector – 8
Engineer – 11
Construction – 9
Software Developer – 8.5
Crane Operator – 8

I mean those jobs are very obnoxious……..working with construction in rough conditions, heavy equipment, complicated mathematics and screwy computer software……….
damn.

and look at this one:
Senior Human Resource Executive.- 2 or 3

That got a surprisingly low score……. ….Human Resources people get to do staffing………they get to hire and fire people………they get to recruit….and decide who comes on board. and training. supervising people.
I would think that job would be fun.

Would you like to share any thoughts on this?
Architect – 10
Architects design blueprints for buildings.
that’s obnoxious!

im in computer software development..really good salary and all..but are there ANY job prospects? I FIND IT REALLY BORING AND dislike it ..i get a headache when i have to do programming in java…but my parents told me to go into it since theres no other "good" field….i didnt want to go into business or anything like that but i was really good at philosophy and health sciences at school…originally i want to become a dietician/athletic therapist but my family persuaded me to go into computers….so what im asking is…is there any way out? are there any good jobs or careers related to philosophy or personal training or something?

I’m 23 years old, I graduated from College a year ago and for years now I been applying to many companies hoping to become a graphic designer. I attended Columbia College Chicago, a school that specializes in training many Graphic Designers and around the design field, is known to hire many young graphic designers. I applied to just about every Graphic Design company, agency, every freelance opportunity and even internship opportunity and I keep getting the same results:

REJECTIONS

Either I’m not good enough or I’m overqualified. I even tried applying for regular jobs but even they reject me. I just emptied out my bank account paying off my student loans and my computer and all I have is dollars to my name. I have an impressive resume, a website showcasing my work, I work hard, and I enjoy with I do, never had any problems with anyone, never a problem with attendance or appearance. yet and still I get rejected by everybody. What should I do? Is the military my only option?

To agencies or consultants who specialise in helping clients achieve better rankings for their websites

how many businesses would realistically take part in such a program ?

I dont think their is much point in targeting big wall street firms as they probably have their own SEO internal departments
what sort of buisnesses would take part ? where shall I look for them ?
I cant target the local retailer down the road…struggling for ideas on where to find potential customers

I dont actually own the company ive just been offered a jobs in the sales deparment
