HI all.
I’ve recently moved a load of web page files from one URL to another. However, all of the key words & description tags within the site point to the old URL when typed into google, despite the fact that I didn’t even add the keyword/description tags until after I uploaded to the files to the new URL.
So, with the very kind advice of another yahoo member, I decided to have a go at loading a .htacces file into my root file and use a 301 redirect protocol.
The hosting company which I use, run Linux servers which I believe, are the only ones which understand this type of protocol and my site is in HTML.
I have only just uploaded the .htacces file but, when I type into google the relevant key words, it still points to the old URL. Does Google need time to index this?
Here’s the .htacces file:
Options +FollowSymlinks
RewriteEngine on
rewritecond %{http_host} ^beautyboxworcester.co.uk [nc]
rewriterule ^(.*)$ http://www.beautyboxworcester.co.uk/
[r=301,nc]
I hope you’ll can help!!!!!!
Thankyou very much.
Hello all, I hope you can help.
I’m approx 1/3 the through designing a website.
When I first started on the site, I originally uploaded all the files to a temporary domain name http://www.riggerz.org just whilst I waited for a suitable DN to come through.
Anyway, as soon as I received the new DN, http://www.beautyboxworcester.co.uk I immediately pulled all the files down from the temporary DNS and uploaded then to the new one.
All good, site works etc etc…
Only problem is, when I started adding key words and description tags for google, they all point to the old DN. I don’t understand why this is though, I didn’t even start creating these keywords until after I received the new DN.
The words I typed into GOOGLE are ‘beauty box worcester’
Can someone help, this is a bad problem!!!!!
Thanks all..
I can’t remember the sentence exactly, and that is part of the problem. I do remember some key words in this sentence though. This sentence is in one of 4 or 5 large books, and I’ve already looked through them but can’t find the sentence I am looking for. These books(history books) are old and not very popular. There are so many books on the net now, so I was wondering, is there a way I can use the internet to figure out which book this important sentence is from? I just need to figure out which book it is from and the page number so I can accurately quote the author for some research.
Keywords from the sentence: "Chrysalis", "Greece", "Greek", "Nordic". It was a sentence about the formation of ethnogenesis of the Greek people.
Books this possibly came from: J.L Myres "Who are the Greeks", or
Kitto’s "The Greeks", V. Gordon Childe’s "The Aryans", Robert Drews’ "The Coming of the Greeks" or even Francis Owen’s "The Germanic People".
I’m creating a Web Site and have been researching ways to improve traffic. I already know what key words will work well. (I’m kind of new at this, but I am learning.)
My question: Where’s the best place to put them? Should they be in the title? Should they be in the meta tags? Should they be in the document text? How about the underlined links?
Also, should I repeat the keywords many times or won’t that get me any more hits.
Thanks in advance for any and all responses. I do check back and give thumbs up for answers and choose the best one.
if the web page contains two different text words at different places, can we make those words as single keyword phrase for search engine.
For example, custom and website design is located at different places, can we make them as single key word like custom website design.
like above some more examples..
internet application + development = internet application development.
E-business + advantage = E-business advantage.
How the search engine considers these key words, please let me clear out from this doubt…
Where in dreamweaver can I add key words, and tags to help my site gain more hits? I know that it is called Search Engine Optimization, I am just not sure where to add the keywords and tags.

I’m having difficulty finding profitable key words. I’m currently using word tracker and Google’s keyword tool, but i still can’t seem to find any good low competition, high profitability key words. does anyone have any techniques or ideas for me to better research keywords?
You want to find a good school in Antigua Guatemala in which to brush up on your Spanish. Antigua is famous for its Spanish schools. How do you go about doing the research in order to choose the best school? What aspects of this type of school are important to you? Which key words would you use in Google (or other search engine) to do your research? Thank you for your responses!
