I know a little bit about web design, but I have to admit I’m a beginner at this sort of stuff. I’m just curious at how one would go about building a website from scratch using strictly CSS and HTML without having to deal with the PHP involved? What tools would I need to use?

Ok, so I’ve decided I’d like to start a little project but I’m just wondering am I getting way in over my Head.

I’m 15 and when you guys read this you’re probably just thinking that this is a ridiculous idea, but hear me out.

I’ve researched a little bit and looked in to it and it seems that the tools are out there in plentiful supply but are these tools really what I should be looking at? A site I’ve looked at recommended a few programs. One was BYOND and is mostly used to make racing games or roleplaying games (this sounded pretty ideal as my ‘idea’ is about ships, but also roleplaying). It also mentioned Adobe Flash CS4 and Microsoft Visual C++/Visual Basic Express. These are ones I’ve heard of before and I assume, are fairly popular. So here are my questions about the software:

1)Are they very complicated to use or will i be able to learn most with tutorials?
2)Will i need to learn C++ and if so would someone my age be able to understand it? ( seeing as I’ve heard there are whole degrees in university on the matter)

I’d like the game to be kind of like EVE Online mixed with Runescape (not the size of the games, more the concepts and the way you play them). But I know I’ll have to start out small, but where would you recommend I start (I’ve planned it and would just like to be able to make a ship and a man to start of with, with things to interact with inside the ship etc)?

And if I’ve got all of this completely wrong, just tell me and I’ll forget it because honestly I don’t have a clue what I’m on about and this whole question is based on what I’ve read on the internet.

Also, I dont know if this matters, but my Dad has trained with cisco with networking etc will this help me? And if you want to know my level of knowledge about computers, I’ll just say that I know my way around a computer and I’ve dabbled with modding in games such as TES: Oblivion. Again, will this help?
Ok, so I have found a really nice video tutorial on youtube using Unity 3d. I’m going to have a crack at this :)

so far i know not to use flash, to try taking photos vertically, i know a little bit about ISO.. i have a nikon digital camera.. is it okay to use auto or?

what would i need to do to become one of the people who fixes computers described above. what is the name of the apprentice course (or whatever its called) for this job, and would it be possible for companies to train me in the course as i work for them (as i am with my current job).

Hello, i’d just like to explain myself a little bit. I’m 13 years old, and would like to start up a website service for some extra spending cash. I figured before i even try to start my business, it would look really nice if i could have a little profolio on my resume. I may only be 13, but i know HTML/XHTML/CSS and PHP, with a tiny bit of FLASH and can create a fairly professional looking website. So is their a website where charities sign up to have a website made, or does anyone know of a charity that is looking for a website to be made? Thanks for any help, 10 To Best Answer.

P.S. I’d just like to note, I read my question over again, and thought that it may sound to some of you that I’m looking for $$ for these sites. I simply want to build a profolio, so I would do them for free.

A friend of mine has a website, but it’s not getting any hits. I know a little bit about computers and the internet so he’s asked me to find out why. What do I need to do to get his web page so that they show up in search engine results? http://www.obrienscape.com/ is the website…there is a page counter at the bottom, but that’s mostly traffic from us looking at the site. Where do I start and are there any good online resources to help me?
Thank you for all the information. I need some help with some terminology you guys are using.
-xml site map
-hyperlinks with your keywords as anchor text
-backlinks
-web traffic generator
-adwords

I have a client who knows a little bit about the internet. I need to teach him about what SEO is, and WHY it is so important for his website. I remember coming across a video animation months back that did the job quickly and easily, and now I can’t find it…Help!
Any REAL answers here?? C’mon, I know SOMEone has come across something that they might be able to point me to…

I am a recent college graduate, trying to learn a little bit about investing and the stock market.

Any advice on books/articles to or forums for beginners about the stock market?

I have designed a website for the doctor I work for. I have no formal training with HTML or CSS so I basically just looked up bits and pieces as I needed it.

I’m running into a problem with by navigation bar… For one, it’s indented to the right a little bit, and for another if the screen isn’t full size, my tabs will overlap. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem? The website is www.measuringwellness.com, and if you need me to post my CSS let me know.

I did my masters in IT and now I have started learning search engine optimization on my own. I know a little bit about SEO. But I want to master it by all means.

I’d like to create a website providing info of interest to people in my home town. It would be nice to know what keywords they use when they are searching the Internet. I tried Yahoo Search Marketing and Google Adwords and they got me a little bit of info but not enough to really make an informed decision about what people around here want to find online. Are there other online resources that can help me find this info? Do I need to stop people on the street and ask them? Please point me in a direction that might help me do some of this basic market research.

I’m a graphic and web designer, so I do understand a little bit about search engine optimization, but I’ve just never gotten it to work very well for me. I would like to start a blog, and I’d like it to be search able to the public – would it be better to make my own website, or to use something like blogger? How would I optimize it?

Thanks!

I’m finally going to be attending a four year university this fall or in the spring of 2008. I’m looking for a part-time job that pays fairly well. These past few years I’ve been working full time at low-paying retail or restaurants because I don’t really have many marketable skills. I have a bit of money saved up and I’m looking for something specialized that I can take a class or series of classes in so that I can get a decent part-time or start free-lancing. That way when school starts I will still have a decent amount of money coming in for personal expenses.

I’ve thought about website design. And at my community college, I will be able to get a certificate in a few months. The classes would cover the basics I need to get started and I already know how to design graphics. I did this I would try to cater to small business, entrepreneurs, small groups and clubs, etc. I’m not sure how this would work out, so I’m open for suggestions.
I’ve been out of school for the past two years working and payiing off debts. I’ve also saved up a bit so that I can pay out-of pocket for what ever my grants and scholarships couldn’t cover. So, room and board, tuition, books, are hopefully covered and I do not have to worry about those. What I’m really worried about is emergency cash, the little bit of debt that I wasn’t able to completely pay off and the small ongoing bills that I need to keep.

I’m 24 and I’m chooseing to go back to school now, because I’m scared if I wait I’d never go back and I’ll be stuck working dead-end jobs forever.

Thanks for reading and for the feedback/

I’m thinking about starting my own Traffic Exchange and was wondering what legal issues I may have. Is it a requirement to have a business license? I hope to generate a little bit of an income but don’t expect to make millions. Will accept payment via paypal and alertpay for account upgrades and for purchaseing website hits, etc.

Thanks!
