Local SEO has become a very popular marketing tactic because of the response it provides to business owners. Given below are a few local SEO tips that can help you along the way.

As a local SEO marketer you should try to think like your targeted prospects/customers/searchers. You have to understand how they think to be able to optimize your site for the search engines. You have to picture yourself as a prospect using a search engine to locate the kind of item you sell, and try to figure out exactly what they would type into the search field. Imagine that you are the owner of a store that sells only one kind of item, golf accessories. Search engine users who type in “golf” are doing an extremely broad search and are mostly not going to be looking for what you have. Other searchers may be looking for “golf instruction,” which isn’t related to what your store sells. However, if they put in “golf accessories,” that’s where you want to target such keywords. Many small businesses with websites bypass keyword phrases that are not the most popular but that could still generate customers. They focus instead on the keywords with the most searches and traffic but are very hard to rank for. It helps you to target the most effective keywords if you can put yourself in the customer’s place. Your ability to find targeted keywords will improve with practice, and you’ll find more customers and you will eventually be able to rank for a variety of relevant keywords. Most of the local sites that are targeted by you will be all right if you want to ask your customers to leave reviews for you, like on the site Yelp. Since this is allowed and it could help you a big deal with your local SEO efforts, why not just go ahead and do it? Make sure you let your clients know about this in as many ways as you possibly can. It can be as easy as a line that says “please take a moment to give us a review on AnyLocalSiteYouWant.Whatever”. Obviously you cannot control these reviews’ content but, whether they are good or bad, the reviews can add credibility and reliability to your company’s profile (which is nice for the new customers). No matter what else you try to do, make sure you use this one tip because it has the potential to help you grow your business by leaps and bounds.

When you want to rank well locally, you should focus on getting links from well regarded local websites. If you want to succeed as a local business, it’s essential to make inroads in your own town or city. High quality backlinks from leading businesses and organizations in your own region are very important when it comes to succeeding online and getting a high rank. The search engines favor sites with a good number of quality backlinks, and getting links from prestigious local sites is the way to get your site highly ranked for location based keywords. It gives a green signal to the search engines and makes your journey even easier. The backlinks that will do you the most good are those that are high quality, and this is far more important than the number of links you have. Even a single link that comes from an important local website is going to do a lot more for you than a large number from unknown sites.

The best approach to linkbuilding is to not focus so much on quantity, but on getting the links that really count. To conclude: local SEO is the way you need to go if you want to get more exposure.

I simply want to see how my site is ranking in Google, Ask, Yahoo, and MSN. i don’t want to pay a fee for a huge report, nor do I want to be solicited for SE optimization. Just looking for a glimpse into how my site is performing with out having to scroll through endless pages to find it’s listing.
In Response to the post regarding googleranking.com – This is taken from their FAQ:

Q: I am a new user and don’t have an API Key yet. Can you still generate a new Google™ Web Search API key for me?
A: No. The SOAP API program support is now limited to the system working with the existing keys.

I do not mind paying for quality. I want my sites to crawlable by search engines like google, and if possible I would like the plugin to do seo optimization

I don’t mind spending for quality. I want my sites to crawlable by search engines like google, and if possible I would like the plugin to complete seo optimization

I have a site that has done great in the search engine results (top 5 most general term in yahoo, 1st page google) that has had no flash, just basic html and good optimization. I want to add some very basic flash nothing too fancy, will this affect my search engine placement? I guess what I am asking is, do search engines look at flash as a negitive in all or some cases?

It is my BA final project title. I need some algorithms to find out which one is better for optimization and then start to work on it.
I need help. If you are a profession, please notify me.

Is there a step by step tutorial on keyword optimization that anyone would like to recommend? I’m especially interested in figuring out what is on searchers’ minds when they type their search terms into the search box?
Thanks,

i want to optimization my site. but i dont know which search engine software is good for optimization.

Hi, I got a 7 years of experience in seo, I was doing an online job with a US based seo company my job duties were ppc campaign creation, handling and optimization, complete keyword research for client’s campaign, web research for one way link building, Comment posting in dofollow blogs n forums and other link building tactics.THE PROBLEM is I got a vast exp but got no opportunity here in Pakistan, I need to get a suitable online job in order to manage my living here BUT not those fake sites having a "sales pitch" like MAKE MONEY Online or some stupid stuff like that.

I have a few sites that I started up but nobody visits them because nobody knows about them. But is this because I did not optimize my SE marketing or because I just did not push enough oomph into marketing in the first place? It seems that SEO is a buzzword but all it really is is optimization of your search engine marketing campaign. But no matter how hard I look I don’t really see that many nice and innovative and useful articles on the net about pure marketing on the internet.

Can anyone list some cheap ways to market websites such as health and weightloss blogs?
Ok I guess my question was, besides fighting for positions in the search engines, what other ways are good to market a brand new website. Adwords? I mean you have to get the word out. I don’t want to just OPTIMIZE my SE campaigns…I want to know how to use them to drive traffic to my websites without worrying about how google or yahoo "ranks" my site. There must be feasable ways to market a website with total disregard for what a search engine thinks of your efforts, right?

Optimization does help only for contents, keywords, articles etc but not for images..How do i make my images from my website appear on the search engine’s search viewable

Hello guys I have little confusion about seo optimization. My question is that suppose a domain name that is 14 year old has 6000 links (check by typing link:www.domain.com). On the other side there is a site that is 8 year old and has 3000 links. Which domain will come top in the search assume that they both are optimized for the keywords. How big of role does domain age play when it comes to seo?
