I know a little bit about web design, but I have to admit I’m a beginner at this sort of stuff. I’m just curious at how one would go about building a website from scratch using strictly CSS and HTML without having to deal with the PHP involved? What tools would I need to use?

I am interested in learning about the stock market. Risght now I dont have a clue. I have to learn from the scratch. Can anyone suggest me any website where I can find good informations for the beginners. Thanks very much!

No, this is not for school. I am doing this so that I can one day… maybe actually get an A on an essay I write. :(

Bill Gates once stated "I think it’s fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tool we’ve ever created. They’re tools of communication, they’re tools of creativity, and they can be shaped by their user." This quote is one of the most correct statements that can be said by one human. Many of the applications and activities that you find important or vital to your day to day routine are made from scratch from highly trained computer scientists. Computer science is an ever growing profession that more and more students are getting interested in each day! Computer science is a well paying, enjoyable, and useful skill to learn.
With deep skills in computer science, you will accumulate a well paying salary each year. This does not promise that you will have your dream car with your dream home and that you will live happily ever after, but some of the most famous and richest people in the world are computer scientists! Bill Gates, for instance, is one of the all time most richest people in the world, and he is, guess what, a computer scientist! Almost all of software engineers are computer scientist. There are no fighting the facts on that computer scientists are one of the most well payed people on the whole planet! According to www.computermajors.com, computer science web developing can earn you an annual earning of up to ,520, and those who specialize in computer and online security can earn up to ,000. With that money, you can buy everything you need in life, and more. Evidence from www.ssa.gov displays that the average paying job in the United States in 2008 was ,335. The annual salary of a computer scientist is more than double that. With a pay check like this, there is no doubt that you will be living in style with luxuries! If money is what you are looking for, you might want to take computer science in consideration!
If you have ever played a video game before, then you should be fairly familiar with how enjoyable they are! Kids these days are spending hours and hours a day. Information from www.diyfather.com gives evidence that teens from the age of thirteen to eighteen years old play fourteen hours of video games per week! That is equivalent to two hours a day. If you have a normal scheduled day of school, a teen may have around five or six hours a day. If they play video games or an average two hours a day, that is one almost half of their free time! Creating the games can be just as fun, if not more fun, as playing them. Creating the games gives you full customization of every aspect of the program or game that you are creating! There are no boundaries to where and where you can not go with game programming! A computer science programmer will make a comfortable and very suitable salary with this also, as well as doing something that you love!
Many people often consider learning computer science as a skill for many reasons, but in particular, because it is a great skill to learn! There are many paths you can go down with the career of a computer scientist! You may want to revolutionize the world with the next amazing robot gadget, or even create the next best selling computer or console game on the market! A computer scientist would as well, make a comfortable living too. Without all of the computer scientists today, we would, no doubt, not be even close to where we are today! Cars would be buggies, computers would be typewriters, and so on. Almost everything we use on earth involves some computer science to create. Without computer science, you can say goodbye to the internet, and the rest of the computer all together! Computer science has revolutionized todays world, and will continue to revolutionize tomorrows world.
Overall, the facts are that computer science is a very important thing to human survival, and will never steer you wrong. Becoming a computer scientist would get you lots of money to spend on necessities and luxuries that would make life fun. People will respect you for your high education, and may even envy you if you are Superior to them! Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Steve Wozniak are some very famous and well known computer scientists for todays technology. Who will be tomorrows?
Thank you first answer. I know about how "you"s are bad…. I was just to lazy to do it before I put it on here.

I would like to be able to design a website basically from scratch. Where do I begin? Can I become an expert with DreamWeaver or FrontPage, or is there more to it than just that? I am a beginner who is looking to learn everything about designing, hosting, and managing websites.

Any information to get me started on the right track is appreciated.

I am a beginner designer, and I have made my website from scratch with learning codes on my own but php has be hard to learn. Anyone know a place where i can download free design quotes from? A quote form that ask a client their name, what type of graphic service they need, how much willing to spend, and a few more questions. Thank you.

I am pretty good with computers. I have never however, had to put a whole computer from scratch. I know I am going to need a case. I know there are a lot of different sizes, however I do not know which way to go. I do a lot of A LOT of downloading. I also do a lot of transferring. I download a lot of emails and software’s and such, and I usually have a lot of programs installed. I upload a lot of pictures. I am a photographer in training. I am looking to build a good computer for around 250-400$. It depends on what I am getting for the price changes.
I have reformatted home computers, I have installed cd and dvd drives, and also changed out power supplies. Here is my “hard part” The little indicator plugs that go to the motherboard, like for the power button for example, I am horrible at figuring out where they go. I don’t know if there is an easier way to do it, or if I am just not doing it right, but I have a computer that I turn on by the back button because I can’t figure out where the cable goes on my motherboard.
I need to get a magnify glass to see the small numbers and such and on the motherboard.
I am also looking to have maybe 2 cd/dvd burners installed on my next computer. I have a 1.5tb hard drive external, however when I plug it up it only shows a 1tb of space. So I am wandering where the rest of that space is I am suppose to have?
I am looking for some tips or some sites that have good tutorials. I get a lot of my stuff from new egg.com or COMP-USA.
My current computer is an AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3400+ 2.20ghz , and 1.00gb of ram. I am wondering how well of a computer this is. I got it about a year or 2 ago. It’s just time to update, I hear all about this dual core processor stuff, double even triple ram speed, and everything is going through FireWire now and I really don’t have a clue on the new stuff. I don’t want to order wrong parts and have to send things back if parts are incompatible. Is there any site that helps/shows how to build a site, with purchasing parts and such so no such errors are made?
Please email me at rjm954@yahoo.com thank you everyone for your time.
www.newegg.com I was wondering if someone could maybe point out what to go with. What motherboard, and what processor, along with ram. I also prefer to have a midsize to large case because I do not like working in small area’s.

I am looking for a computer that can run multiple programs, microsoft word, photoshop, elements, internet explorer, and also handle usb devices, hard drives, and etc . . . . I have a monitor keyboard and mouse and such. I just dont know what I should need to fulfill my needs. I hear all this dual core quad core processors. Is that what I need? I am not a gamer, I am more into web design and editing photos and such. I watch movies online and communicate through the internet a lot. anyone with input i will be thankful. Also, can you get a large case, and will it handle any motherboard, or does it always have variables? certain cases, for certain motherboards? I will be needing ram, 1 internal hard drive, unless you can boot off usb hard drive?
I’ve never seen a computer boot from a usb hard drive, so I dont even know if thats possible. I also don’t know which proccessor to go for, amd or pentium, or is there something better that I don’t know about? Is online the best place to shop for computer parts, or does anyone know of any good computer stores in like the broward county area of florida? anyways thanks everyone for your help.

My aunt is a wonderful artist, and she is not having so much luck lately selling her beautiful – handmade from scratch – jewelry, clothing and garden decorations. I told her that she needs to MARKET and get a website – that way she can not only sell at her shows, but worldwide!!

Does anyone know anything about the website-making world? What are the best domains, how would you make sure it pops up on searches like google, and how much would it be? Is it something you can do yourself?

Ok I wonder if freelancer and professionals who build websites use Dreamweaver? To build the tables etc..? Or are they doing this from scratch? Or they already have a few templates and build there websites from there and add features etc..??
As web developer not looking to build a site with a tool offer by hostings.

Experienced Website Builders because well, they have lots of experience

I would like to make a website. In fact I have made many but have not been really happy with any of them. Like freewebs, tripod, geocities…..

Iv done tons of searches on the Internet & there is TONS of info but I think Iv been overloaded & am just plain confused. Its enough learning to make my own layout, etc., but I need to find somewhere to work. I thought geocites would be good but I heard others saying its restrictive etc. I want to make my website ”from scratch”. Its just for fun really so I don’t want to buy anything yet so thats why it has to be free. Later on I may want to purchase my own www.domain-name.com etc. but not now.

What is the best place to set up my website?? It would be great if the answers came from people who also work on building real websites, etc., (well non-free ones lol) Iv gotten all kinds of opinions from people…do any professionals on the web have suggestions for me?
I got the following response (i will add it) when I asked this question but still need help, one my original question & on the answer.

I know the best would be a paid for service but thats just not something I want right now. So Im trying to find the best, less restictive one that is free, for now. :) Since I know almost nothing about all this. A bit of what they said confused me. Im very new to all this so some of, most of what they said isn’t something I quite understand yet. I have aol & dial up….. Could someone explain all that more simply??

The best places are not free.I have b een using Yahoo Small Business for years and very happy. \mo and free Domain.
Have you looked at the free webspace your ISP provides? I am with Cox Cable (20 mB of space) and find it adequite.
The other option is to serve it yourself. make sure your ISP allows this. Check your ISP’s TOS (Terms Of Service).
You can use http://www.DSLwebserver.com http://www.PortForward.com for good resoruces to running a home based web site.
and use http://www.NO-IP.com to resolve the Dynamic DNS issue that not having a static IP address presents.
If you have XP sp2 with IIS installed, a broadband connection (DSL or cable), and two hour you could have your site up it 5 to 6 hours (Allowing for reading on the first server setup).
Ok, Thanks. I suppose I will just stick with Yahoo! GeoCities for now. I like how they have their ads set-up. I’m going to work on the actual website layout etc. if I need to change for some reason I will try others again. Thanks for your help.
