I have been asked to work on the search engine optimization for a small business website. A store front in a small town that has about 60 other small towns within 20 miles in any given direction. The owner wants me to make the website appear in searches for local customers in a reasonable close area but not nation or world wide.

Any advice on how to optimize for a regional search?

I have a small business and I’m looking for a good software for my computer. I do grooming, doggy daycare and training as well. I’m looking for a software program that is easy to manage and isn’t to expensive. Please if you know of any programs, please let me know.

I’m trying to figure this out for a small business situation. I know the price will vary from situation to situation. I am not looking for an answer that says it depends on this or that… I know there are different factors that affect a price. However, if you could give a ball park average for a business making a few million in sales a year. (I worked at a Chick-fil-A restaurant that makes 3.5 million a year.) A busy fast-food restaurant should fit that description. I’m not talking about companies like Apple or Best Buy.

The best answer would be one that breaks the price down to a monthly cost for each platform. The price could even vary. I.e.
1. How much would it cost for a Facebook fan page? 0 – ,000
2. How much for a Twitter page? ,000 – ,500
3. How much for a blog… and how many posts per a week would that price include? 0 per blog entry
4. How much to have a website optimized for search engines? 1 million a month
5. What else is there and how much does it cost. EzineArticle marketing – 0 per article

I was hired to design, create and optimize a Yahoo! store website for a small business. Also was hired to train an employee of the owner on how to use the Yahoo! services. There was no contract or anything between us because this isn’t a full time job for me so I wasn’t thinking about that. I asked her for 00 and she said she wanted to stay between 00 and 00 so I settled for that. Halfway through the project she paid me 0. When I completed all the work on my end I e-mailed her to tell her I was done. After a week and no response I sent another e-mail. After another week I sent another and finally got a response. She said she’d call me and she didn’t…I finally called her and she asked me to send an invoice with the final amount we "agreed on". I sent an invoice for 00 and she replied saying we agreed on 00 which is a lie. After a couple e-mails I locked up the Yahoo! account until I got a check…she got the password changed and never sent an e-mail or call
I then e-mailed her again asking for a check and she responded telling saying this…"You locked me out of my e-commerce store. That is a criminal matter. The fact that you think I owe you more money that I think I owe you for your work is a civil matter. Which one would you like to fight?"
She is basically refusing to pay me what I am asking and I am not willing to lower my cost even more in order to please her. Tomorrow I am going to her store to ask for a check and refuse to leave until she pays me or the cops escort me out. If she doesn’t pay me should I take her to small claims court? I have all of the e-mails between us from start to finish and there are plenty of them with her openly admitting to owing me money. Do I have a case?

I have a little knowledge of html but not much. I am looking to design a small business website (no buying or selling, just info). I have heard that there is good software out there that takes the html knowledge out of it but they are expensive. I want a relatively inexpensive one to start out with., but I want to be able to make the website look nice and original, not cookie-cutterish.

Hi, well here is the question i have for anyone reading. I will be graduating from college soon with a business economic degrees concentration in accounting, and training in entrepreneurship. But going into my last year at college i feel more disconnected from the accounting and feel that i picked a major that i will not be able to continue as a career. That was a little about my background here is the question that needs to be answered, i consider myself an expert at computers networking, hardware, software i would like to combine my love to computers/electronics with accounting but having no background on my resume other then an internship with a small business. What type of computer certification (A+, CCNA, CCNP, CCIE, CCISP, ISSMP, MSCP, MSCE, etc) can i obtain to help me get a job in the technology field working in networking and make use of my accounting degree?

So, I haven’t built a website in well over five years, and when I did, I was just having fun with it because it was only for me. I knew basic HTML–that’s the extent of my knowledge. No CSS or JAVA, etc.

I’m not familiar with what companies are currently out there to host and help with building a website. I’m looking for:

1) free with very minimal ads or low cost with no ads
2) an easy, yet powerful editor–probably WYSIWYG style–that allows for a professional appearance

This would be for a small business, mainly as a way to give their customers basic info. Please give some basic info about costs and what the editor is like. It would be nice to possibly see a website created with the editor. Thank you for you help!

I have created web sites using iWeb before and it would be helpful if there were templates that I can use to help me design my pages as I am not a web designer.

I am hoping I get get some answers here, I am building a website for a small business.
Its a few questions about keywords I have done loads of research on keywords but I am still not sure of what I should do. Should my keywords match my title on the website, and the description also my content.

I know that I have to put keyword phrases from my content that will help me get seen.
I also know that I should be looking for phrases that are not got millions pages.

Am i on the right track ?

I have also setup google adwords so that I can get clicks on my site.
If someone could help I would be so happy lol.

I see several classified ads purporting to get a listing to appear on Google’s first hit pages. Here is one, text below, that purports to get a company listed MORE THAN ONCE on the top search-engine hits page.

MY QUESTION: What kind of money should a small home-based business person offer for this listing? Or, these kinds of services, in general.

I cant give my friends my Yahoo account allowing me to access all tools that Yahoo gives according to Yahoo small business. I hope I can give him other access to all Yahoo tools to build our website . Pls help me how to do this. Thanks
