A backlink is where your website shows up on another web page. The World Wide Web is made up of links. The more of them you have pointing to your website the more traffic you can potentially get.

So how do you get more backlinks? I say the answer to this question is to get them in as many different ways as you can. Here are 10 ways to get started with.

1. Article marketing. I have built up thousands of backlinks to my various websites using this strategy. It works.

Write articles around a targeted keyword phrase and submit them to online article directories. Be sure to hyperlink your targeted keyword phrase back to your website in the resource box of the article.

2. Deep link. This is a good strategy for driving traffic to web pages you have other than your home page.

You can develop backlinks by deep linking to these pages when you put a link on other web pages you have. You can also link directly to these pages in all of your marketing strategies including article marketing.

3. Blog. When you make a blog post you should bookmark it to social directories. I use Only Wire for this.

Search engine spiders these social directories every day. When they find your link they will come back to your blog which helps you rank on the search engine for the keyword phrases you are blogging about.

4. Blog comments. This is a simple strategy where you post comments on other people’s blogs. Rather than include your name, list a keyword phrase in the name field. Then include your website URL.

5. Discussion forums. Join relevant forms and set up a signature file. Link back to your website in a signature file and every time you make a post you get it backlink. Do this on do blogs that provide do follow links.

6. Guest blogger. Write blog articles and submit them to other bloggers.

Make sure each article is unique and only submitted one time. Most bloggers will allow you to include one or two links in either a resource box or in the body of your blog article.

7. Submit Your Article. Use their patented Article Leverage program to send unique articles to hundreds of article directories. Your articles can also be picked up by other Internet marketers, ezine publishers, and so on.

8. Free Traffic System. Submit blog articles into their system.

You can include up to three links in the body of your article if you are a Pro Member and 2 if you are a free member. This is a good place to link back to inner pages on your website and develop a broad range of backlinks on other people’s blogs.

9. Buy text link ads. Look for established websites or blogs that will sell you a link on their site.

10. Trade links. Find relevant websites that do not compete with you and place their link on your site if they add your link to theirs.

These are 10 possible ways you can get backlinks to your website, blog, and inner web pages. This is the best long-term strategy for developing ongoing traffic to make money online.

I need to ask you something about SEO (Search engine optimization) . What is SEO ? . And how it really helps us to increase traffic on our website. Will it be useful to invest on some of the seo techniques for my blog ?

I was wondering what techniques can be used. I heard about search engine optimization but what else is there? I also notice some companies that can guarantee x number of unique visitors to your website for a fee. Are these services worth it? what do they do to get that type of traffic?

Search Engine optimization- any advice?

What’s the best way to optimize a site, get more traffic?

I have three websites right now and have tried some of the common marketing ideas to promote them. However, I may or may not be doing so properly because it seems that there is so little information out there geared toward complete novices. And, it seems that everyone has a different view of what works and what doesn’t.

I’ve tired (and as I said with limited knowledge of the accuracy of what I am doing):

Article marketing (provided by a service) – saw no major results if any at all.
Social networking – I do this myself with minimal if any results.
PPC campaigns through Google and Facebook – neither seem to produce any tangible results.
Link building – Some help in creating traffic, virtually zero help in producing customers.
Directory submissions – Very little impact.
Search engine submissions – Very little impact.

I cannot get any sort of grip on how to determine good keywords. All I find is vague information. Same thing when it comes to dealing with site maps and meta tags and titles.

Just assume I’ve come from some third-world country and have never had any concept of the Internet other than e-mail and browsing and that’s pretty much the point at which I need to be related to.

Can anybody actually tell me where or how I can find some beneficial info?

By the way, the websites are:

www.3riverscreative.com
www.twistedangels.net
www.jasongreiner.com
Thanks for the effort guys. While I don’t think very much of this will be particularly helpful for somebody in my situation, I do thank you for trying.

I have been wondering and trying to test this. If you have a website with a Google calendar embedded on it, such as my website http://www.liverystable.net (Events) will the events on the calendar be visible to search engines?

For instance, if someone is searching for a Peter Campbell Horse Training Clinic in Olympia, Washington on March 14, 2008 will the google or yahoo search engines give them my website as a result? I realize my site would probably be listed on the umpteen-millionth page, depending on the popularity of the event searched for. But I have tried to test this, and they don’t seem visible. Which, for search engine optimization purposes, our Events listings would draw more traffic to our website if they were not set up on a Google calendar.

Am I correct? Or can you find events on a Google calendar by searching for them through popular search engines such as Google and Yahoo?

If you only had one option which form of marketing would you choose to bring traffic to a new website?

i want to do search engine optimization of my website and want to know all the steps involved but everything should be free. I want a quick solution which can increase traffic towards my website free of cost. Any help in this regard is appreciated.

I have my website and I plan to move toward premium services in a few weeks. In the mean time I am looking for an ad client that will place ad’s on my webpage while working as an Search Engine Optimization client to direct traffic through my website to promote their advertisements. This seems like an even trade for space and the traffic I need to promote my company. Do you know of any?

There has been a continuous increasing trend of website and blog publications for awhile now. This is great because this will create more information and services that are available for everyone through the internet; and it’s just a click away. With all the websites and blogs that have been written these days it’s pretty difficult to find someone who doesn’t own one themselves. Most people have even made their sites into a awesome side business to make some extra money by monetizing their content. Monetizing a site is easy enough to achieve through advertisements and affiliate marketing programs.

Web design has been a passion of mine for a couple years now, and one basic type of question that I’ve been asked and heard thrown a round a lot is, how can you make more money from your websites? The answer to this question is simple, just increase the number of visitors that come to your site. Learning how to increase website traffic and how to increase website ranking, enables web publishers to greatly increase revenue that their sites generate on a monthly basis.

Similar to real estate, the key to increasing your site’s traffic and earnings is location, location, location. Think of it like this; if you own a business and had a choice between having your store located on a back road, or a road that’s directly off the highway which would you choose? The road off the highway is the obvious answer, and the same exact concept can be applied to websites. Identical websites can increase or decrease their traffic relative to the site’s location.

Keeping the example in mind, let’s say that a search engine is the highway. If someone is doing a search using a keyword that’s relevant to your site’s content you will definitely want your site listed on the first page of websites, and not ten pages back among other search results. Search engine optimization (SEO) is key to successfully increasing your site’s ranking and traffic.

The more visitors that regularly visit your sites, among other things, should substantially increase the earnings that your advertisement campaigns earn on a monthly basis. If advertisements are relevant to the website or blog’s content, in addition to having many visitors significantly increases the probability of making money through advertisements and affiliate marketing programs.

With some time, effort, and hard work it is definitely possible to get your website listed on google page one. Just remember to do research and to learn as much as possible about how search engines index and rank websites. Also, be aware that there are programs and products available that state that it will increase page ranking and traffic to your website or blog. Some of these programs can be extremely expensive and turn out not to work. So always do your due diligence before making any large investments in SEO programs.

How can I market affiliates buy getting sales off their designs/products without my own personal website.

Can I use social networking sites like myspace, do I need to post classified ads or write articles?

How/where can I promote affiliates products quickly and with the most traffic?

Thanks

Currently trying to get keyword stats and found that Google’s Traffic Estimator Sandbox has a login preceding use of the tool.

Anyone know if this is an intentional move by Google? I wouldn’t be surprised… now they can link all search term research to Google adwords buyers!

Ideas/thoughts… am I becoming too paranoid of Google’s unyielding (desire for total) power?

Here’s my TES bookmark:
