What should i search when looking in theories on how a fireman should get a higher wage than an actor?
I am doing a research paper on the ethics of socialism vs. capitalism in the work place using Charles Dickens’ Hard Times as a reference. I want to compare the fact that people that work long hours at grueling jobs deserve more pay than the bossman ahead of them – or more a more modern and specific example could be a paramedic/fireman to an actor/singer. I am needing solid sources, mostly from books within the library, but I can’t seem to find a good keyword for it. I am sure its out there, so if you could help me with the word or some solid internet sources/books I would be more than grateful
ADDED: My paper isn’t on the boss vs. the common worker, that was the example in the book Hard Times. I am relating it to the the paramedic/laborer/factory worker to that of people who contribute nothing more to society than entertainment. Also, I am not really looking for an explanation, I just need keywords or sources to get information from. Thanks.

Risk factor.
the service provided against the value of entertainment
first of all, yes, a Firefighter, Paramedic, Police Officer should get paid more then an actor/singer but it would never happen. Towns and Cities don’t have the money to pay them more then successful actors/singers. Second, comparing pay of Firefighters and Actors to workers and their bosses doesn’t work. The Boss gets more money because he has more education, more experience, and/or more responsibiity. If workers got paid more money then the Boss who has more to do since he’s in charge of all the workers, then the Boss would have no incentive to do his job since all the workers get paid more then he does. Furthermore, there is no incentive for the workers to do a good job and move up in the ranks to get higher pay since they would be taking a pay cut if they were promoted to the Boss position. I think you need another angle for your paper.
